Greetings, | Post-Pandemic Trends - 2021 World Summit Keynote Video (60 Minutes) Over the last couple weeks, We took a pause from the newsletter, digesting the situation of the world. It's unfortunate to see what has been happening in the Ukraine, and we are, like you, deeply concerned. Internally, both Trend Hunter and our team has been fundraising for the Red Cross. We have friends, family and clients in the Ukraine and our hearts are with them. We continue to do our work as researchers, studying what is happening and trying to understand the impacts on the world. Sadly, the outcome of global conflict is predictable in a post-pandemic period. In my keynote on post-pandemic trends, in Sept 2021, I went through a couple theories which predict the unfortunate situation of conflict, including: 1. Generational Theory and the prediction that roughly every 80 years, generational shifts result in war (thought I noted the war could be more of a trade war because I didn't want to fully get into the fact that the theory just straight up predicts war); 2. Post-Pandemic, there is often conflict as we resolve a new world order; and 3. We Are Entering a New Roaring 20s, which many commenters noted was not all good because the roaring 20s end in economic depression and eventually war, which is true. The unfortunate part of these lessons from the past is that they don't always predict a pretty picture of the world. There is good and bad in the lessons of history, though as innovators, we certainly try to focus hard on the bright side of things, and how to innovate our way to the better future. SO what has happened so far? Well the world is on edge, we are all quite nervous, but at the same time, we see that pro-democratic countries have banded together, NATO has strengthened, neutral countries have become less neutral in support of peace, people are coming together to unite for one peaceful causes, and there will be a strengthened ally ship of democratic countries, at the cost of world trade and globalization.. We are, of course, most concerned about the safety of the Ukrainian people involved, and hopeful that we get to peace quickly, In the mean time, we can expect things to drag out, causing further supply chain woes, an impact on food supply that will spike inflation, and already a massive spike in energy costs, which has historically ALWAYS resulted in a recessionary period. Not almost-always, but always. So that is an unfortunate read on the current patterns beyond the conflict itself. If you want to learn more about post-pandemic trends, you can check out my full hour keynote on this, but note that it was recorded in 2021, so it does not reflect what is happening today in the Ukraine. We wish you and your families safety and health in these difficult times. | Peace. | Jeremy Gutsche CEO, Author & Keynote Speaker - JeremyGutsche.com | | |
